Note: This message is not intended to reflect poorly upon the ownership and staff of Adult DVD Marketplace, they were very professional when I dealt with them, and I have heard that other people have also had good experiences with them.
I will start this message with a few paragraphs of background information before asking for the opinions of other ADT members.

I ordered a bunch of DVDs from one of the “Top Sellers” at Adult DVD Marketplace. I’ll call them SellerX. SellerX shipped all but two of the DVDs, and included notes asking me to pick two other DVDs that at prices equal to or slightly higher than the two missing DVDs. SellerX has a Feedback Rating of 5 Stars. However, if one scrolls down far enough through the individual feedback ratings, they can see that SellerX has done this to several other buyers. These buyers give them 5 stars of feedback anyway.

The 5 star rating SellerX has earned seems misleading to me. I took the time to read through their titles and chose to buy DVDs from them when there may have been other sellers offering the same DVDs at comparable prices. Furthermore, I lost the opportunity of buying these DVDs when their market prices were low; the current market prices for these DVDs are now considerably higher. For example, SellerX is now selling one of the missing DVDs that I ordered at double the price at which I ordered the DVD.

The previous time I ordered DVDs from SellerX, they were also unable to deliver one of the DVDs. At that time I thought that this was probably an isolated incident since their feedback rating was so high. Now I am more critical of them; this could conceivably be viewed as bait and switch. (I hope that the use of the term “bait and switch” does not get ADT or me into any trouble with lawyers. I have kept the identity of SellerX anonymous for this reason). Other sellers simply refund the price of the DVD and do not request that you select something else.

It is my understanding that Adult DVD Marketplace has a method to reduce the likelihood of a seller selling more copies of a DVD than they have, so I am not sure why this is occurring. For example, if SellerX has 23 copies of DVDyyy in stock, Adult DVD Marketplace will not process more than 23 sales of DVDyyy from SellerX. This is just my understanding; I could be mistaken.

I will also mention that they include free DVDs in my shipment in the place of the DVDs that they do not deliver; these DVDs have been 5-6 hour compilation discs or other low price DVDs. As most of you reading probably know, long-running compilation discs are generally of lower quality than other DVDs.

Here are my questions for the ADT members:
1. What feedback rating do you feel is appropriate for one of the missing DVDs if you are asked to select another?
2. If the seller simply refunds your money on your credit card, what rating do you feel is deserved?
3. Should the non-delivery of the missing DVDs affect the feedback rating of the DVDs I received?
4. How should I best summarize this experience in 100 characters or less?

Thank you for reading. Also, thank you in advance for your replies.

I would give 1 star, and a note stating why.
I have had this happen more than once with one of the top/busiest sellers on ADM, as well. I still buy the majority of my DVDs from there, but I purposely will avoid *cough*filthydvds*cough, despite their high rating. Each time it happened to me, I left poor feedback.

I have better luck with smaller sellers on that site - people like me just selling stuff they are done with.

1. What feedback rating do you feel is appropriate for one of the missing DVDs if you are asked to select another?
I would rate this as poor. The reason it is poor is that I do not simply pick random DVD's because of their price, I pick DVD's based on my interest in their content. In other words, though they are priced the same, DVD "X" may be worth $9.99 to me while DVD "Y" is not. Therefore, substituting "Y" for "X" is not giving me equal value.

2. If the seller simply refunds your money on your credit card, what rating do you feel is deserved?

I would rate this as fair, since I lost no money on the deal. However, if it happened repeatedly, I would include a note to that effect.

3. Should the non-delivery of the missing DVDs affect the feedback rating of the DVDs I received?

Certainly.

4. How should I best summarize this experience in 100 characters or less?

Calmly. For example:

Rated: "F": Seller did not ship items, will not respond to emails.

Rated "F": Some items were not shipped, seller refused to refund money for unshipped items.

Rated "F": seller substituted some of the DVD's without prior agreement.

Rated "F": seller stated some titles were unavailable and tried to get me to accept substitutes at the same price. As none of the substitutes were of interest, I declined. Seller would not refund money, insisting I choose other DVD's instead.

Rated "C": seller stated some titles were unavailable and tried to get me to accept substitutes at the same price. As none of the substitutes were of interest, I declined. Seller refunded money.

Rated "B": seller did not ship all DVD's but promptly refunded money for unshipped items.

Anything short of a no-nonsense "yes we will refund you money immediately" is absolutely unacceptable. We dropped DVD Advtantage from our price search for this very same issue a few years ago.
I encourage you to contact the owners of Marketplace.

1. What feedback rating do you feel is appropriate for one of the missing DVDs if you are asked to select another?
The nice thing about ADM is you rate each disc in the transaction instead of the purchase as a whole. If I was told I had to select another instead of being given a refund I'd give the lowest possible rating, not make another selection and contact Gary.

2. If the seller simply refunds your money on your credit card, what rating do you feel is deserved?

I generally give a "neutral rating" in this case assuming that the seller initiates the refund very quickly and on their own. Neutral is generally the middle of the scale. If I have to do work to get the refund the rating drops in accordance with the amount of work I've had to do.

3. Should the non-delivery of the missing DVDs affect the feedback rating of the DVDs I received?

Since ADM does each disc as a seperate item, no it shouldn't in my opinion since you received the other ones with no problem. However you can leave info in the text description area stating that although you received this disc you didn't receive the whole order.

4. How should I best summarize this experience in 100 characters or less?

"Unable to supply disc ordered, forced a different pick instead of a refund"

"Had to contact ADM as seller didn't supply ordered disc nor a refund"

"Did not receive ordered title nor a refund"

I had the same thing happen to me a little while ago, so I know just who you're talking about. I didn't care as much since:
a) the DVD they sent me as an apology didn't look too bad.
b) they had a replacement for the one I ordered that interested me
and
c)I could still pick up the original DVD I ordered from somebody else at basically the same price I originally planned on ordering it.
To me, the biggest problem involved was there also wasn't the offer to refund the card. Sending a replacement DVD seems like a way to hook or guilt the person into taking something other than was offered.
As for the questions...

1. What feedback rating do you feel is appropriate for one of the missing DVDs if you are asked to select another?
I'd have a hard time giving it above a 4. With my experience above, where I feel I ended up with a better deal than what I originally planned, I went away happy. If they wouldn't have something I was interested in, then they'd definitely be getting a 1.

2. If the seller simply refunds your money on your credit card, what rating do you feel is deserved?
Mistakes happen now and then, so communication is the key. You drop me an immediate e-mail saying "Oops, there was a problem and we can't fill your order" and I check the site and see that you no longer list the item, then I'll probably give a 3. I'd rather have a seller drop me a line letting me know that they have the item but it sounded like it was in multiple pieces in the case so they're cancelling the order and refunding me completely than having them ship it out and try blaming it on the post office.

3. Should the non-delivery of the missing DVDs affect the feedback rating of the DVDs I received?
Almost certainly, but again, it depends on the seller. I've had a couple have problems where you could tell it was an accident or something beyond being sloppy, and they always gave me the option of either cancelling the order or pick somthing else at a higher value to make up for the problem. In my mind, they're admitting they screwed up and trying to make the customer happy, so as long as it isn't a repeated thing I have a hard time nailing their balls to the wall for it.

4. How should I best summarize this experience in 100 characters or less?
Seller didn't have item as claimed (with a "but still listing on ADM" if applicable) and offered other DVDs that did / didn't interest me instead. Seems to be common, so be careful!
Poor communication. Forced to take different disc than ordered rather than cancelling order.

Any recent feedback on ADM? I buy all the time from ADT price search but I have been weary of ADM because of the individual factor.

Uhm, the thing about individuals is that they're all different...

I only buy from Globalflix, both from ADM and via individual emails with a list of titles I want. The guys name that runs it is Todd. He is very professional, and I have never had a problem with any order I have placed through them - a little over 3 years now.

On Adult DVD Marketplace, the sellers go from extremely great to horribly poor.
My personal experiences:

DVD Movies Direct - EXCELLENT. Never had a problem. Consistently the best.

MILLENIUM_MOVIES - EXCELLENT. Never had a problem.

Globalflix - EXCELLENT. Never had a problem.

AllDelight - EXCELLENT. Never had a problem.

FilthyDVDs - HORRIBLE. They don't answer emails. Never got the order. Had to request refund from the website (which I got immediately).

They were an advertiser on ADT under a different name for a few days early last year. We pulled the plug on their ads (and issued a refund) after too many complaints in the forum.

BACMUSA Thank you that is a great assesment.

Filthy appears to be on ADM under several different names. At least, I've ordered from different sellers and got it from the same address as filthy along with the same "3 cats" or something like that, flyer.
As for DVDMoviesDirect, I doubt I'll ever use them again. The last order I had with them I commented in my feedback about them shipping media mail even though it would have been cheaper to ship first class and I received an e-mail letting me know how "woefully ignorant" (their words) I was in an e-mail that was just as rude throughout. Normally I stay away from the "big guys" with thousands upon thousands of feedbacks and go with the little guys instead.

As for "smaller" sellers I've had good luck with...
1price
godjen99
vinnytagg
snakepusher
nicknight
aaa-xxx
piercedone
marmac
mazeroski

and for probably never use again:
filthy
jjmdist

I've bought a few dvds from the site but I've sold several, lol! As a seller I try to get the dvd out the day I see the order plus I ship it first class every time, sometimes Priority Mail, the extra buck or so isn't a big concern to me, I think of the person wanting the dvd and I'd rather they have it a bit sooner rather than me saving a buck.
