Note: This message is not intended to reflect poorly upon the ownership and staff of Adult DVD Marketplace, they were very professional when I dealt with them, and I have heard that other people have also had good experiences with them.
I will start this message with a few paragraphs of background information before asking for the opinions of other ADT members.
I ordered a bunch of DVDs from one of the “Top Sellers” at Adult DVD Marketplace. I’ll call them SellerX. SellerX shipped all but two of the DVDs, and included notes asking me to pick two other DVDs that at prices equal to or slightly higher than the two missing DVDs. SellerX has a Feedback Rating of 5 Stars. However, if one scrolls down far enough through the individual feedback ratings, they can see that SellerX has done this to several other buyers. These buyers give them 5 stars of feedback anyway.
The 5 star rating SellerX has earned seems misleading to me. I took the time to read through their titles and chose to buy DVDs from them when there may have been other sellers offering the same DVDs at comparable prices. Furthermore, I lost the opportunity of buying these DVDs when their market prices were low; the current market prices for these DVDs are now considerably higher. For example, SellerX is now selling one of the missing DVDs that I ordered at double the price at which I ordered the DVD.
The previous time I ordered DVDs from SellerX, they were also unable to deliver one of the DVDs. At that time I thought that this was probably an isolated incident since their feedback rating was so high. Now I am more critical of them; this could conceivably be viewed as bait and switch. (I hope that the use of the term “bait and switch” does not get ADT or me into any trouble with lawyers. I have kept the identity of SellerX anonymous for this reason). Other sellers simply refund the price of the DVD and do not request that you select something else.
It is my understanding that Adult DVD Marketplace has a method to reduce the likelihood of a seller selling more copies of a DVD than they have, so I am not sure why this is occurring. For example, if SellerX has 23 copies of DVDyyy in stock, Adult DVD Marketplace will not process more than 23 sales of DVDyyy from SellerX. This is just my understanding; I could be mistaken.
I will also mention that they include free DVDs in my shipment in the place of the DVDs that they do not deliver; these DVDs have been 5-6 hour compilation discs or other low price DVDs. As most of you reading probably know, long-running compilation discs are generally of lower quality than other DVDs.
Here are my questions for the ADT members:
1. What feedback rating do you feel is appropriate for one of the missing DVDs if you are asked to select another?
2. If the seller simply refunds your money on your credit card, what rating do you feel is deserved?
3. Should the non-delivery of the missing DVDs affect the feedback rating of the DVDs I received?
4. How should I best summarize this experience in 100 characters or less?
Thank you for reading. Also, thank you in advance for your replies.
